Naguru is a Detention Center for children (ages 12 to 17) who have been arrested for crimes and are awaiting court dates for trials. It is a Government Facility and is managed by the Ministry of Gender. Naguru houses approximately 175 children for approximately six months. Desana initiated a Sewing Project there in 2016. Twenty sewing machines and associated materials were purchased and an instructor was hired. Three classes are given daily, teaching tailoring and clothes making. The goal being to provide a basic life skill that will enable the children to either find positions in a Tailoring shop or establish their own small businesses to serve as a source of income for themselves and their families.
