Project Title

Highway Secondary School was started by Ssenyonga John Africa (also founder of The Children’s Future Foundation) in 2006 with 30 students. Today, HSS is a thriving Board and Day School of over 1,400 students. This school is located midway between Mityana and Mubende west of Kampala Uganda.

Since Desana became associated with the school, we have constructed a state of the art three classroom and offices block, now known as Desana Love Block and we provided a deep well for clean water so the students did not have to spend three hours a day walking to carry water. We also remodeled the girl’s dormitory, constructed more latrines (at the beginning there was a two hole latrine for 750 students), constructed a state of the art Science Lab and a new 350 seat chapel. We have maintained this school throughout our time together with other maintenance items and upkeep items as well as providing some scholarships for students. Desana also provided over $350,000 in medical supplies and equipment to several health centers in Mubende District.

We are happy to continue our relationship with this school of dedicated teachers and motivated students.
